Come along to the launch of True Stories from Macleay Valley Aboriginal Elders at Kempsey Library!

Working closely with Aunty Helen Archibald and Aunty Caroline Bradshaw, Council has compiled treasured Elder Stories into this remarkable publication. Aunty Helen and Aunty Caroline, driven by their passion to preserve these stories for future generations, have worked diligently to obtain consent from the speakers' descendants. The book will be available free of charge.

From 10am to 12:30pm, the Kempsey Library will come alive. Experience a captivating Smoking Ceremony by Uncle John Kelly and a warm Welcome to Country by Uncle Bob Smith. Indulge in a light morning tea provided by Little Artisan Kitchen, while the voices of the Elders fill the room through recordings showcased on the library screen.

Come, listen to the captivating stories, savor morning tea, and take home a copy of the book. Let us honor our Elders and embrace the knowledge they generously share with us.

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, achievements and diverse culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
