About the libraries

Kempsey Shire Libraries include three branches across the Macleay Valley as well as a mobile library service.

We are a partner in the Mid North Coast Co-operative Library Service, which has been in operation since February 1980. 

Information about Kempsey Shire

  • Our shire has a population of 29,634 (ABS ERP 2014).
  • We have 10,242 registered library members (2015).
  • The library has a total book stock, including print and e-books, of 60,930.
  • There were more than 210,938 book borrowings during the year (2015).
