Author Talk with Bridget Nezar
Published on 06 February 2026
Charlie. Mr T. Rambo. Freddie Frog. Fred.
He was a charming, polarising figure in our community, and a man of many nicknames: Charles Frederick Quinlan.
Charlie wanted his story to be told and Bridget Nezar spent countless hours with him talking, listening and making notes, and these discussions culminated in the creation of her first book, “Oker’ Aboriginal Hitman’.
Bridget’s author talk was a rousing success, giving fascinating insight into Charlie’s life, his family, his mob and how he turned his life around.
This was Bridget’s first ever author talk in a library. She was an engaging, relaxed speaker who gave lots of interesting insights, but refused to give away any spoilers.
She did share a poignant reminder for all in attendance: “Telling is healing”. It is important we share stories of our communal history as it makes the world a better, more honest place.
Thank you to everyone who came along, it was a wonderful turnout and conversation.
When is the next Author Talk?
