Almost 300 people attended the Facelift@40 party at Kempsey Library last Friday. The rain cleared, the music played and there were smiles all round.

Uncle Graham Quinlan performed the smoking ceremony. Koala Cottage was revealed as the new tree house name in the children's area.

Following the formalities the cake was cut by Mayor Leo Hauville and Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan MP.

For many it was their first visit to the newly refurbished library with its new layout, meeting rooms, outdoor space, children's and youth space.

Some remembered the library building when it was first opened back in 1982 as state of the art for its time. After the renovation, Kempsey Library is now ready to serve the community for the next 40!
