Library adventures and smiles all around!

The past few weeks have been packed with creativity, imagination and community spirit at Kempsey Library! Here’s a round-up of the fun.
We welcomed our new tech friend at a special Robot Cat Storytime, where 12 kids and 8 adults got to sing songs, hear feline-themed tales and interact with Meta Cat. The kids were especially amazed by its glowing, responsive eyes.
Afterward, they crafted “magic whisker cats” using beads and ribbons and suggested names for their robotic companion. The names were put on display in the library for public vote and Chow Meow came out on top!
Our Manga Drawing Workshop with artist Stephen McLeod was a hit, helping young creatives hone their skills and dive deeper into the world of manga artistry.
We also hosted two sessions of Dungeons & Dragons, which saw eleven young adventurers face pirate ghosts and goblin mischief in a magical quest. Huge thanks to our talented Dungeon Master Sam for leading the charge with humour and patience.
Another highlight was Storytime with Piper the Story Dog, where kids enjoyed cuddles and heartwarming tales.
And rounding out the fun, our Beginners Shibashi Workshop left attendees glowing, relaxed and smiling after learning gentle movements to boost wellbeing.
Thanks to everyone who joined us—we love seeing the library come alive with storytelling, creativity and connection. Keep an eye out for more events soon
