As the investigation deepens, Detective Alex Markov discovers a small town rotten to its core and she must decide if it’s worth risking the consequences to expose the truth.

Michael Brissenden was an award-winning journalist with the ABC for over 35 years before turning to writing fiction. Smoke is his third novel.

Dr Rachel Franks is the Coordinator of Scholarship at the State Library of NSW and author of An Uncommon Hangman (2022).
