Beep Beep! Celebrate our new library van with us

You’re invited to celebrate the debut of our new mobile library van and see the modern internal fit-out and improvements designed to better serve our community.
Kempsey Shire Libraries will celebrate the new wheels with the van rolling into Hat Head and Crescent Head for a bit of a party.
The formal launch will take place at Hat Head from 10am – 12:30pm on Tuesday 8 August 2023 at 53 Straight Street, Hat Head.
The Crescent Head event will occur from 9:30am – 12pm on Wednesday 9 August 2023 and will be held in the Crescent Head Country Club carpark.
Carissa Graham, Customer Experience Manager at Kempsey Shire Council, said the vibrant new library van will offer an improved mobile browsing and borrowing experience.
“Our library staff are proud and excited to present the new library van that is ready to serve the community and schools across the shire,” said Ms Graham.
“Inside, you'll find a great collection of books and resources, thoughtfully organised in spacious storage shelves. The van's improved lighting and the addition of convenient stairs with railings ensures better access to browse the collection. Plus there are additional improvements, which make for a more comfortable experience.”
The launch events will feature wonderful prizes and anyone signing up as a library member on the day will receive a free library bag. Light refreshments will be served, and the Chatterbox Van will also be present to offer Council-related information.
How does our mobile library service work?
Every fortnight, this library on wheels visits Hat Head and Crescent Head to provide a mobile library service to our residents. Residents can also reserve items across the Mid North Coast Library Cooperative, which can be collected from the van during our fortnightly visits to these areas.
You can browse reading material including books, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, junior fiction, junior non-fiction, and graphic novels, collect the items you have requested, return items, sign up for a library membership, and more. For library lovers who are incapacitated or ill and are unable to visit our library branches, our home lending service makes deliveries each fortnight.
