Free library events to keep the kids busy these holidays

If you’re making plans for the kids for the April holidays, then Kempsey Library has three great events they won’t want to miss.

April School Holidays

Fantasy quiz and dragon egg art

Wednesday 12 April 

Put your reading to the test with a fun quiz and win a prize if your fantasy story knowledge is on point. Then make your own magical dragon egg to take home and treasure. Suitable for ages 5+. 

Fantasy quiz and dragon eye jewellery

Wednesday 19 April 

Put your reading to the test with a fun quiz and win a prize if your fantasy story knowledge is on point. Then make your own dragon eye jewellery to ward off any dangerous creatures you may cross on your magical quests. Suitable for ages 5+. 

Stay late at the library for a movie, gaming and pizza night bonanza

Thursday 20 April

There'll be a screening of ‘Mary and the Witch’s Flower’. Or you can book a session on our Virtual Reality headsets, gaming computers or Xbox/PlayStation. Plus, there'll be pizza!

Ages 12 to 18. Please be advised that children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Youth Week 20 – 30 April

With Youth Week starting 20 April there’s also two more events planned especially for anyone aged 12 – 24 years. 

Paint and Sip (Bubble Tea)

Wednesday 26 April

Embrace your creative side and paint your own masterpiece while enjoying a refreshing bubble tea. No painting experience required, just come along and join the fun. Suitable for ages 12-24 years.

Jewellery Weaving Workshop

Thursday 27 April

Join the amazing Gai Southwell from Manhuti Walkabout Jewellery and learn the meditative practice of weaving with natural materials. Participants will learn various weaving techniques and will make a pair of earrings and a bracelet to take home. Suitable for ages 12-24 years.

More free library events

There’s also a Beginners Composting workshop at Stuarts Point Saturday 5 April and the regular monthly and fortnightly events such as Baby Bounce, Storytime and Bookclub.

Spaces for some events are limited and registration is required.
