New Library Van
Launch party! Brand new library on wheels rolls into Crescent Head and Hat Head to show off its gorgeous artwork and modern fit-out.
It's time to say farewell to our old, slightly shabby mobile library, and welcome our brand-new library van, complete with colourful artwork, new internal fit-out and improved access to the van via a set of stairs at the back.
The new van is more user-friendly, with insulation and internal cooling to make it more comfortable when choosing your reading material, improved shelving, storage and lighting, an awning to protect customers from the weather, and an overall more enjoyable experience for the book lovers in our community.
Launch Party!
We will be showing off our new van to the community at two launch events on the 8 and 9 August:
Hat Head Launch Party! 10am – 12:30pm on Tuesday 8 August 2023 at 53 Straight Street, Hat Head.
Crescent Head Launch Party! 9:30am – 12pm on Wednesday 9 August 2023, and will be held in the Crescent Head Country Club carpark.
There will be wonderful prizes to be won, a free library bag for everyone who signs up to be a library member on the day, light refreshments, and the Chatterbox Van will also be there if you need any Council-related information.
How does our mobile library service work?
Every fortnight, this library on wheels visits Hat Head and Crescent Head to provide a mobile library service to our residents.
You can browse reading material including books, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, junior fiction, junior non-fiction, and graphic novels, collect the items you have requested, return items, sign up for a library membership, and more.

Home lending service
Do you live in Crescent Head and Hat Head, but are unable to visit the Mobile Van due to illness, frailty, or disability?
Sign up to our Home Lending Service, where library items will be delivered to your door or your Aged Care Facility.
