What is the Summer Reading Club?
The Summer Reading Club (SRC) is a FREE program that encourages kids to read, play and try out new things during the school holidays. This year children aged 3-18 can complete 16 challenges in a reading passport for the chance to win some amazing prizes!
How can my child get involved?
Attend any Kempsey Shire Library branch and collect a reading passport. In the passport there are 16 reading challenges. Complete each challenge, record the name of the book read and have it stamped at your closest library branch.
Every SRC entrant that completes 10+ challenges will be invited to the Wrap Up Party at Kempsey Majestic Cinemas on Saturday 3 February 2024.
Every SRC entrant that completes all 16 challenges will go into the running to win the Major Prize!
There are also other challenges to complete over the summer in order to gain more entries into the prize draw including the Summer Poetry competition, Bookmark competition and a Fact Treasure Hunt.
Children will need to have their own library card. If they don't yet have their own library card, getting one is easy. Simply bring your photo ID into your local branch and the lovely library team will do the rest.
If your child already has a library card (or if you have signed up for previous Summer Reading Club challenges), you can also complete the 16 challenges on the Beanstack Tracker app. All the instructions on how to complete the challenges online are listed on the app. Members using the Beanstack app are automatically entered into the prize draw, while those filling in the paper reading passport must hand it in to your local library to be entered.
What can you win?
Major Prizes
Complete ALL 16 challenges in the SRC Reading Passport (or track your books on Beanstack) to go into the running to win a major prize:
Major Prize: $200 Big W voucher
One junior winner (aged 3 – 11) will win a $60 Big W voucher
One young adult winner (aged 12 – 18) will win a $60 Big W voucher
Reading Prizes
Any SRC entrant that completes 10+ challenges in the SRC Reading Passport will be in the running to win a reading prize:
Reading Prize: $20 Big W voucher (4 x vouchers to be won in total)
Activity Prizes
There will be lucky dip prizes awarded at the library for kids that participate in the Fact Treasure Hunt.
All prizes will be drawn at the Wrap Up party on Saturday 3 February 2024 at Majestic Cinemas Kempsey.
